No Morneau in This Year's Homer Derby

My Canadian Crusher has declined his invitation to the 24th Annual Home Run Derby, to be held next Monday night on ESPN.
"They asked me yesterday," Justin Morneau said. "I said I wasn't going to do it."
And that's that.

I was pretty bummed when I first heard the news, but I lightened up when Joe Mauer said he'd totally say yes if they asked him.
"If they ask me, I don't think I could say no," said the two-time batting champ. "I know watching him the last couple of years, it's a lot of pressure. Still, it looked like it was a fun deal."
Man Muscles is second behind Morneau in Minnesota Twins home runs with 14 on the year, 11 of which he nailed in May. Though he's more likely to bat .400 than hit 40 bombs, Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire has the utmost confidence in his backstop.
"Joe in the home run hitting contest? He'd probably win it," says Gardy. "You know it and I know it. Just to let people know he can hit home runs. Nothing would surprise me that Joe does."

I wonder why he didn't want to? That would be great if JOe was asked to participate, but I doubt anyone thinks he has a shot.

Aw geez. That really stinks.

I don't get it. WHY JUSTIN, WHY?!
But.. Joe is one of those people that maybe isn't a known HR hitter, but if put in the derby would win, because he's the baby Jesus. When Joe retires from baseball at 57, he will then become the Vikings starting quarterback and then win 3 consectutive superbowls.
He could be thrown into an operating room, be given some gloves and a scalpel, and perform a quadruple bypass if someone said to cut. Then he'd grab a bite to eat, go down the hall and deliver a baby, which would then be named Joe.
Maybe Justin Just wanted to give his bro a shot?

I find it weird that the HR Derby Champ very rarely defends their title the following year. I guess these guys are really afraid of the dreaded "Home Run Derby Curse".

Hello,

My name is Jason and I am the founder of SportsSoundOff.net. We are a new blog, but re-established. It had to be shut down because of technical issues. I was wondering if we could exchange links.

Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Jason
