Derrick Turnbow used to be pretty good. He was an All-Star once, even.
But after going 0-1 with a 15.63 ERA over eight appearances this season, he was dumped by the Milwaukee Brewers Friday.
The 30-year-old righty's lousiness dates back a while, but in 2005 he had 39 saves. That number dropped to 24 the following year, when he was selected to the NL All-Star team. That's about when the sucking sound got really, really loud.

The Brew Crew have officially designated Turnbow for assignment and are taking responsibility for the remainder of his $3.2 million salary this year. They have 10 days to either trade him, palce him on waivers, or send him to the minors outright.
Milwaukee recalled outfielder Joe Dillon from the AAA Nashville Sounds to take his spot on the roster. Wait, what's that sound? Oh, a collective sigh out of Beer-Makers Nation.
