Weed Out the Crap: Jim Edmonds

Man, I suck at baseball these days.Jim Edmonds is kinda old and kinda done.

Before being released by the struggling San Diego Padres on Friday, his batting average had fallen to .178 -- just 16-for-90 over 26 games -- with one homer and six RBIs.

Also, his fielding had become that of a 9-year-old bench-warmer with autism.

The 37-year-old Edmonds, a four-time All-Star and eight-time Gold Glover, began the season on the DL with a right calf strain he sustained during Spring Training. He was activated on April 5th and has sucked ever since.

His firing conversation with manager Bud Black has been described as "very apologetic" on Edmonds' part.

Note to the Pads, who will eat $4.7 million for this move, Jim Edmonds is only the tip of your problematic iceberg.

Ever wonder what the ten worst contracts in baseball are? Rumors and Rants were kind enough to compile a list.
