Days after gracing the cover of the Sporting News mag, Troy Percival has landed on the DL.
The Tampa Bay Rays closer was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain Thursday after limping off the hill during Wednesday’s 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers.
Percival, who is 1-0 with 14 saves out of 16 opportunities and a 2.95 ERA, underwent an MRI, which found no significant damage. However, the Rays don't want to take an chances with the 38-year-old righty's hammy.
Has Sporting News created its own curse? Ah, no. Troy Percival is just old.
