The Texas Rangers have avoided arbitration by agreeing with first baseman Ben Broussard on a $3.85 million, one-year contract this weekend.
Acquired in a swap that sent infielder Tug Hulett to the Seattle Mariners last month, the 31-year-old Broussard hit .275 with seven homers and 29 RBIs last season.
Fun fact about this guy: he has three career pinch-hit grand slams, which is not only insane, but tied for the most in big league history. He's also a talented musician! Watch out ladies.
The club also inked righty Jason Davis to a minor league contract Saturday, along with an invitation to spring training. Davis went 2-0 with a 5.84 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Cleveland Indians and Seattle last year.
