Two days after the St. Louis Cardinals dumped Walt Jocketty, interim general manager John Mozeliak announced the team will pick up its $8 million option on Jason Isringhausen.
The 35-year-old closer came back with 32 saves in 34 opportunities, just a year after missing the playoffs due to hip surgery. He finished with 54 strikeouts and a 2.48 ERA in 65.1 innings pitched."I am proud to wear this jersey and this is where I belong," he said.
Isringhausen is St. Louis' career franchise leader with 250 saves, enjoying five 30+ save seasons with the club.
