The San Diego Padres placed the man with the lowest ERA in the majors, Chris Young on the DL Saturday after he left the game against the Colorado Rockies with a strained oblique muscle.
The 28-year-old starter leads the big leagues with a 1.82 ERA, and is 9-3 with 114 strikeouts. San Diego manager Bud Black expects Young to return in a roughly 2 weeks.
In a related move, the Pads called up Tim Stauffer from the AAA Portland Beavers to start Sunday against Jason Jennings and the Houston Astros.
Stauffer, 25, appeared in 15 games with the Padres in 2005, but just one last season, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He earned the win by allowing only two runs on three hits over six good innings.
