The New York Yankees acquired catcher Jose Molina from the Los Angeles Angels for minor league righty Jeff Kennard this weekend.
The 32-year-old Molina, one of the catching trio of Molina brothers, is batting .224 with no homers and 10 RBIs in 40 games.
Kennard, 25, was 1-4 with a 2.73 ERA in 31 minor league appearances with the AAA Trenton Thunder.
Rumor has it, Yanks manager Joe Torre had to find a way to get rid of this guy, because he kept eating the rosin bags. All they could get was the middle Molina.
In a related move, backup catcher Wil Nieves was designated for assignment. He was hitting .164 with eight RBIs in 26 games.
