Is This Where Teams Go To Die?

Wow.
The Chicago White Sox... yes, the same Pale Hos that won the World Series in 2005... are in last place in the American League Central.

Well, they're actually tied with the Kansas City Royals at the bottom with a 43-54 record, 15.5 games behind the division-leading Detroit Tigers.

Still an amazing turn of events. This scenario seems to remind us of a couple other recent World Series Champs that we can't quite place.

Love the nonchalant links to the Marlins and Cardinals.

Fuck that! The Sox will make a comeback!

Don't forget that their World Series bedfellows that year were the Astros...look at where they are, too.

The Sox are dead for 2007...

There's not much more demoralizing in the world of Major League Baseball than being tied with or below the Royals in the standings...

Well, except maybe being the Royals

Is falling behind the Royals in the standings the organizational equivalent of dropping under "the Mendoza line?" If so, and you're batting below .200 for that same team, is there a compelling reason to not look for other lines of work?

(I'm looking at you, Toby Hall.)

Oh man, Zero. What's it like to be the backup catcher on a crappy team? Pretty shitty, I'll bet.
