Detroit Tigers tough-as-nails reliever Joel Zumaya is expected to be out for 12 weeks with a ruptured tendon in his middle right finger.
That's right. Zum-Zum threw the ball so hard in warmups that his middle finger exploded.
He is 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA this season, striking out 17 in 17.1 innings.
Right-hander Aquilino Lopez was called up in Zumaya's absense and righty Jose Mesa will likely pitch more with Zumaya out. Fernando Rodney and Todd Jones will hold down the closer role.
So much Guitar Hero. So little much more time.
