Halladay Out With Appendicitis

Roy Halladay will miss the next four to six weeks due to acute appendicitis.
Those poor Toronto Blue Jays fans.

On Friday, the Jays announced their staff ace would miss the next four to six weeks with acute appendicitis.

Roy Halladay, the 2003 AL Cy Young Award winner has been roughed up for 16 earned runs over his last two starts, surrendering 23 hits for a 13.94 ERA. This April, he allowed just 12 earned runs and 35 hits the entire month for a 2.28 ERA.

Maybe the reason this crappiness was so alarming is because of Roy's 99-50 career record and 3.65 ERA over 224 appearances, including 199 starts. And let's not forget the 980 lifetime strikeouts.

Halladay's absence further aggravates Toronto's woes, after learning they'd have to finish the season without closer B.J. Ryan due to Tommy John elbow surgery. That makes nine Blue Jays now on the disabled list.

Unfortunately, they lost nine straight before Friday's 5-1 home victory against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

I heard Halladay found a jagged metal "O" in his breakfast cereal.
